Ed has been helping people to achieve their health,
fitness and movement goals for the past fifteen years. First introduced
to Pilates at the Dance Theatre of Harlem, he continued to refine his
Pilates and fitness approach while performing in regional and touring
theatrical productions. In 1994, he dedicated himself to the goal of fusing
state-of-the-art scientific information with traditional and progressive
Pilates and resistance training techniques.
He was a Pilates Instructor and Master Trainer for New York Sports Clubs/Town
Sports International and, as a lecturer on their Training and Development
faculty, has educated personal trainers and Pilates instructors throughout
the Northeast. For over seven years he has taught and tested over 1500
fitness professionals in areas including fundamentals of exercise science,
advanced programming approaches and Pilates instruction for small groups.
Ed has studied Pilates and completed certification work
at The Pilates Studio and at the Xercize Corp. He has been certified by
The American Council on Exercise (ACE), the American Fitness and Aerobics
Association (AFAA) and the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM-CPT).
He is also a Post-Rehabilitation Conditioning Specialist, a Resistance
Training Specialist – level 2, and an RTS Mastery candidate. Ed
is a certified Muscle Activation Specialist with Greg Roskopf's Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) in Denver, Colorado.
Ed has been featured and quoted in New York, Oprah's O Magazine, Strong,
Men's Fitness, Penthouse, and Elle magazines, The New York Daily News,
the books Boot Camp and The Pilates Method of Body Conditioning and has
appeared on and/or trained the hosts of Later Today, Good Morning America
(New York edition), and MSNBC's Morning Blend.
Ever willing and eager to share his reverence and enthusiasm
for the structure and function of the human body, Ed remains a perpetual
student of biomechanics, anatomy, physiology and physics. He is currently studying the techniques of Posturology with its founder Dr. Bernard Bricot of the International Center for the Study of Posture in Marseilles, France.
